2025 NFL Week 6 Highlights

By Jeff Stinger

When we look back on the 2025-26 Season, NFL Week 6 is the one that might stand out. Some things stayed the same: the Baltimore Ravens are a disaster, and the Cowboys can’t win a shootout. The Jaguars also reverted to their old form. However, other changes caused massive ripples throughout the league. Check out the biggest storylines in a watershed week in the current NFL Season.

2025 NFL Week 6 Top Highlights

Kansas City dominates Detroit in Sunday Night Football

The marquee game of the week started that way with Detroit scoring a TD on a trick play. Jared Goff got a pass at the goal line and then bullied his way into the end zone. But after further review, Goff never reset behind the quarterback. He just went into motion, which is an illegal formation.

After the Lions had to settle for a field goal on their opening drive, the Chiefs quickly took command. Detroit suffered injuries late last season, which derailed their season. This season, the injuries are piling up early.

KC clawed their way back to .500, which isn’t a horrible place to be in the AFC. Patrick Mahomes was on fire. He’s got a full range of weapons now that Juju Smith-Schuster, Hollywood Brown, and Xavier Worthy are healthy. With three healthy receivers, the middle of the field will open for Travis Kelce, which happened on Sunday. The Chiefs look solid heading into Week 7.

Titans fire Callahan after another Tennessee loss

Tennessee fired coach Bill Callahan after another loss. It’s not that the Titans are losing. Tennessee lacks a roster capable of contending. But unlike Kellen Moore in New Orleans, Callahan didn’t appear to have a direction.

Moore’s Saints play as hard as any team in the league. They make mistakes because they aren’t good enough yet to win the close games. But Callahan’s Titans seemed to play with a negativity that the owners felt was a massive detriment to Cam Ward’s development. Tennessee must be careful about who it hires as its next head coach. Firing Callahan, though, is understandable.

Rookies Skattebo and Dart lead the Giants past the Eagles

The Giants are no longer the New York Giants that can’t get out of their way. This past Thursday, the Giants handed the Eagles, the best team in the NFL up until Week 5, a second straight loss.

The way Jaxon Dart and Cam Skattebo dominated the Eagles’ defense was a thing of beauty, especially for Giants fans. Dart and Skattebo are unaware that the Giants are expected to be a bad team. But 34-17?

That’s not just a win. That’s a whipping. Amazingly, the Giants are 2-4 and just two games behind the Eagles in the NFC East. Could NYG play themselves into the playoffs? There are a lot of good teams left on the schedule, but the G-Men have the talent and the lines, both offensive and defensive, looked great on Thursday. The odds are +1600 for the Giants to make the playoffs after the regular season. Those are decent enough odds for a bite.

Falcons send the Bills to 4-2

On Monday night, everyone wondered how Michael Penix Jr. would do in a prime-time game. The former Washington Huskies QB was outstanding, throwing for 250 yards and a TD.

Most of his passes went to Drake London, who caught 10 for 158 yards and a touchdown. Bijan Robinson ran for an insane 8.9 yards per carry on his way to 170 yards and a TD. Robinson also caught six passes for 68 yards.

The massive performances sent the ATL to 3-2 and the Bills to 4-2 in a 24-14 Falcons victory. As great as Atlanta’s offense was, the real story, again, was the Bills’ defense. Buffalo has now lost two straight after allowing 23 points to the Patriots and 24 to Atlanta. Neither the Pats nor the Falcons were known as having great offenses before their wins.

The loss puts Buffalo into second place in the AFC East behind New England. The Bills had better figure out their D and fast. Buffalo visits the hot Panthers on October 26 before tackling the Chiefs.

AFC wide open after NFL Week 6

Baltimore won’t make the playoffs this season, Kansas City is at .500, and the Bills are now at 4-2. So the Big Three in the AFC haven’t performed or aren’t performing now like the Big Three.

Indianapolis leads the AFC with a 5-1 record. Pittsburgh is 4-1. The Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, and LA Chargers are all 4-2. Nobody knows how the AFC is going to shake out this year.

If you’re playing futures, for sure look for overlays. So much money dropped on the Ravens early to win the AFC that they’re at +1100 even though they’re at 1-5. So take advantage of the Broncos at +950, the Colts at +750, and the Bolts at +850. Also consider backing the Jags and Steelers at a sweet +1300.
