KC and Patrick Mahomes roll into a matchup with Josh Allen and the Bills in Week 9
After starting the season 0-2, the Chiefs have blossomed into the best team in the NFL. The defending AFC Champions won their fourth straight and fourth of five in a scintillating 28-7 beatdown of the Washington Commanders.
Next up? Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. The game takes place in Buffalo, which is why Kansas City is only a -1.5 favorite. The Bills looked sensational in a 40-3 road win over Carolina. So don’t dump on Kansas City just yet. If Buffalo’s defense has gotten together, the game, like always, should go down to the final possession.
Eagles soar to a 38-20 win over the New York Giants
A few weeks ago, Philly found themselves on the losing end of a game against Jaxon Dart, Cam Skattebo, and the New York Giants. This past Sunday, Jalen Hurts and the Birds took it to the G-Men in a nice 38-20 victory, even though A.J. Brown didn’t play.
For their part, the Giants had an excuse. Skattebo suffered a dislocated ankle, ending his season. The Giants deflated after the injury. Dart did what he could, but Philadelphia was too much. Still, the NFC East is the Eagles for the taking because the Giants, Commanders, and Cowboys, for various reasons—mostly injuries —have no shot at winning the division. Philadelphia will turn its attention to securing home-field advantage. The Eagles are off in Week 9, where getting healthy will be the priority.
After 33 33-point fourth comeback versus the Giants, Denver squashes Dak and the Boys
The Broncos had every right to bounce back in NFL Week 8 after a 33-point fourth-quarter victory over the New York Giants in NFL Week 7. Not only did the Ponies prevent a bounce, but they excelled in Week 8, blasting Dak Prescott and the Cowboys ‘ top-rated passing offense 44-24.
But now the hard part starts. Denver will be without the world’s top NFL Defensive Player of the Year corner, Patrick Surtain, for weeks. Sean Payton is going to have to get creative because the Broncos take on the Chiefs and Packers in two of the next five weeks. Without Surtain, Denver is going to have to be the better team in possible shootouts against KC and GB.
Bears’ 4-game winning streak ends versus Tyler Huntley and the Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens went back to Tyler Huntley at quarterback. Huntley had been Lamar’s backup the past few seasons, and it made a big difference. Baltimore got their second win of the season, and the Bears’ winning streak ended.
The story in this one was Caleb Williams. Caleb is turning into a decent starter, but he continues to make questionable decisions, like not going out of bounds in the final first-half drive to save a timeout. Williams must improve his decision-making for the Bears to make the playoffs this season.
Also, if the defense doesn’t get turnovers, it’s not a great unit. This week, the Bears head to Cincinnati to face a potent Bengals offense, while the Ravens get Lamar Jackson back for a Thursday matchup against the Dolphins. The Bengals’ moneyline might be a decent play, given that Chicago is a -2.5 favorite. Laying the 8.5 on a hungry Lamar and Ravens squad against the Fins also looks decent.
